Would it be stupid to invest $50 in an emergency radio?
Basically, since Katrina, I’ve been thinking of sinking $50 into an Eton radio (FR300), that broadcasts the emergency weather frequencies, plus AM/FM/VHF and TV. Plus it has a light, siren and cellphone charger. Wise? Or, am I just being paranoid?
I have lived through the WTC attacks, the Northeast blackout, snowstorms, summer blackouts, and hurricanes. Also lived through a tornado while in the mid-west. You might not think you will need that radio, but when the time comes it will be a relief. To be able to listen to your local radio news or TV audio for up-to-date status instead of sitting in your home with no information, will provide you a sense of calmness. For yourself and your family.
